The Fitbit app shows your dashboard, where you can see your recent activity and sleep data, log food, compete with friends, join the Fitbit community, and more. When you open the Fitbit app, your stats automatically sync to your paired phone, tablet, or computer.

Is my device compatible with the Fitbit app?

To see if you can use the Fitbit app on your device, go to fitbit.com/devices. We frequently add support for new devices, so check back soon if yours isn't listed.

Is the Fitbit app free?

The Fitbit app is available free of charge from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Microsoft Store.

Do I need to own a Fitbit device to use the Fitbit app?

Use the Fitbit app to manage your food, activities, weight, and more, without owning a Fitbit device. Manually enter activities to get an estimated calorie burn based on your personal information, such as height, weight, age, and sex. For certain phones, you can use the MobileTrack and MobileRun features to track steps and activities with your phone.

Your Fitbit device uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to sync with supported phones, tablets, and computers. For more information, see How do Fitbit devices sync their data?

How do I hide or rearrange tiles on my Fitbit app dashboard?

To show, hide, or rearrange tiles on your dashboard:
  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap Edit at the bottom.
  2. To hide tiles, tap the x or -  icon in the top left of the tile you want to hide.
  3. To show hidden tiles, tap the + icon in the top left of the tile you want to show.
  4. To rearrange tiles, hold and drag the tile to a new location.
  5. Tap Done.

How do I see my data in the Fitbit app?

To see your stats history, tap a tile for more details and historical information. Tiles include your daily activity, exercise, sleep, weight, and more.

How do I set and update my goals in the Fitbit app?

The Fitbit app guides you to create health and fitness goals through a series of questions. You see the option to set goals when you first create your account and at other times in your fitness journey. If you skip this guided goal setting or want to make a change, you can do so at any time. For more information, see How do I track my health and fitness goals with Fitbit?

How can I connect with others in the Fitbit app?

Participate in the Fitbit community in countries where it's available. Add friends, join groups, post workouts and photos, and more. Tap the Community tab to get started. For more information, see How do I connect with friends on Fitbit? and What should I know about the Fitbit Community? 

If you receive a message from a friend, or if someone cheers or comments on a post you created in the Fitbit community, you'll receive a notification on the Notifications tab in the Fitbit app. 

Which version of the Fitbit app do I have?

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the account icon User-added image.
  2. Tap Help. The app version is at the top.

How do I update the app to the latest version?

Update the Fitbit app the same way you update other apps on your phone. Note that your device may automatically update your apps depending on your settings.
  • iPhones and iPads
    1. Open the App Store app.
    2. Tap your profile picture in the top right.
    3. Scroll down to see if an update is available for the Fitbit app (under Available updates or Upcoming automatic updates).
    4. Tap Update.
    If your apps update automatically, check Updated recently to see if the Fitbit app was updated recently.
     
  • Android phones
    1. Open the Play Store app.
    2. Tap the menu icon in the top left.
    3. Tap My apps & games. If the Fitbit app has an update, you’ll see it in the Updates list.
    4. Tap Update.
    If your apps update automatically, check the Recently updated or Up to date list to see if the Fitbit app was updated.
     
  • Windows 10 devices
    1. Open the Store app.
    2. Tap or click the menu icon in the top left.
    3. Tap or click Downloads and updates.
    4. If your apps update automatically, check the Recent activity list to see if the Fitbit app was updated.
    5. If the Fitbit app doesn't appear in the Recent activity list, tap Check for updates. If the Fitbit app has an update, you’ll see it in the Available Updates list.
    6. Tap or click the download icon.

How do I use the Fitbit app on my Android phone?

To make sure your Fitbit device syncs and receives notifications from your Android phone, make sure the Fitbit app can run in the background on your phone and allow the Fitbit app to access your location. You can also add Fitbit widgets to help you quickly log stats and track goal progress from your Android phone’s home screen.

How do I know if I received a message or there is activity on my post?

If a friend sends you a message someone cheers or comments on something you posted in the Fitbit community, you see a notification on the Notifications tab in the Fitbit app. You can see up to 100 of your latest notifications on the Notifications tab. A red circle over the Notifications tab lets you know you have new messages to read.
