Here are some tips for traveling with your Fitbit tracker:

  • It is safe to take all Fitbit trackers through airport security. The scanning machine will not damage your tracker.
  • Contact your airline to determine if Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs) can be used during the flight. Your tracker uses Bluetooth Low Energy, which should be considered safe for most airlines.
  • For charging purposes, we recommend plugging your charging cable into a USB port on your computer or other low-energy device. If necessary, you can use a UL-certified USB wall charger. For more information about charging your tracker, see How do I charge my tracker?
  • Most trackers store up to 7 days of detailed minute-by-minute data. If you have a Fitbit Alta™, your minute-to-minute data is stored for up to 5 days. If you wait longer than 7 days (5 days for Alta) before syncing, you may only see the most recent week's detailed data.
  • Summary data (calories, distance, steps, and floors) will be stored for 30 days. If your tracker measures heart rate, summary heart rate data will be stored as well.
  • Remove the wristband before applying bug spray or sunscreen. Chemicals may deteriorate the band.
