Most wrist-based Fitbit devices feature reminders to move. The reminders nudge you to walk at least 250 steps each hour. You'll feel a vibration and see a reminder on your screen at 10 minutes before the hour if you haven't walked 250 steps.

Can I change when I receive reminders to move?

You can change the hours and days you receive a reminder to move. These are the same hours and days your dashboard tracks your 250-step hourly activity goal—a minimum of 5 hours and a maximum of 14 hours in a day. If you don't want to receive reminders at least one day per week, turn off reminders to move.

To adjust the hours or days you receive a reminder and track hourly activity goals, choose a section below:
  • Fitbit app
    1. On the Today tab User-added image, tap the hourly activity tile User-added image.
    2. Tap the gear icon User-added image and adjust your reminders to move start and end times or the days you want to receive reminders.
  • Fitbit.com dashboard
    1. From the fitbit.com dashboard, click the gear icon User-added image > your device image.
    2. Under Reminders to Move, adjust the start and end times or the days you want to receive reminders.

Can I turn off reminders to move when I know I won't be active?

If you don't want to be reminded to move for a certain period of time, you can turn off your reminders in the Fitbit app.

For most Fitbit devices, turn off reminders to move by turning off notifications. For more information, see My Fitbit device isn't receiving notifications from my phone.

When will I get a reminder to move?

If you haven't moved 250 steps, at 10 minutes to the hour you’ll receive the reminder. Note that while you can take extra steps in the next hour, they won't count toward your hourly activity goal for a previous or future hour.

Can I be reminded to move earlier in the hour?

You can only receive your reminder at 10 minutes to the hour.

Will I be reminded to move if I’m asleep?

If your device detects that you’re asleep, you won’t receive reminders.
