Does my Fitbit device have reminders to move?

The reminders to move feature is available on all devices except Fitbit Charge, Fitbit Charge HR, Fitbit Flex, Fitbit One, Fitbit Surge, and Fitbit Zip.

Can I change the days of the week I receive reminders?

You can change the hours and days you receive a reminder, which are the same hours and days your dashboard tracks your 250-step hourly activity goal—a minimum of 5 hours and a maximum of 14 hours in a day. If you don't want to receive reminders at least one day per week, turn off reminders to move.

To adjust the hours or days you receive a reminder and track hourly activity goals, choose a section below:
  • Fitbit app
    1. On the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Hourly Activity tile. This is the tile that shows the number of hours you completed 250 steps.
    2. Tap the gear icon and adjust your Reminders to Move start and end times or the days you want to receive reminders.
  • Fitbit.com dashboard
    1. On your fitbit.com dashboard, click the gear icon in the top right corner.
    2. Click your device image.
    3. Under Reminders to Move, adjust the start and end times or the days you want to receive reminders.

Can I turn off the reminder when I know I won’t be moving?

If you don't want to be reminded to move for a certain period of time, you can turn off your reminders on your Fitbit dashboard.

If you have a Charge 2 you can also turn off reminders to move by turning off notifications. From the clock face, just press and hold the button to stop notifications, then repeat when you want to turn them back on. You'll also find a Do Not Disturb menu on your tracker.

To turn reminders to move on or off, choose a section below:
  • Fitbit app
    1. On the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Hourly Activity tile. This is the tile that shows the number of hours you completed 250 steps.
    2. Tap the gear icon and turn Reminders to Move on or off.
  • Fitbit.com dashboard
    1. On the fitbit.com dashboard, click the gear icon in the top right corner.
    2. Click your device image.
    3. Under Reminders to Move, find an option to turn off your reminders to move notifications.

When will I get a reminder?

If you haven't moved 250 steps, at 10 minutes to the hour you’ll receive the reminder. Note that while you can take extra steps in the next hour, they won't count toward your hourly activity goal for a previous or future hour.

How do I track my progress?

The Hourly Activity tile on your dashboard shows the number of hours you met your 250-step goal so far today.

Open the tile to see a graph showing whether each hour tracked was active or stationary for the last week. Swipe to see a second graph showing your longest stationary period. Note that time asleep is not included in this graph, and you must be inactive for at least 10 consecutive minutes before that time is considered stationary.

Can I be reminded sooner than 10 minutes?

At this time, you can only receive your reminder at 10 minutes to the hour.

Will I be reminded to move if I’m asleep?

If your device detects that you’re asleep, you won’t receive reminders.
