Wear your Fitbit device correctly to make sure every step counts. For best results, confirm the wrist you wear your device on. For more information, see How accurate are Fitbit trackers?

For wrist placement guidelines for Fitbit devices that track heart rate, see What should I know about my heart rate data?

Note that all Fitbit devices contain ferromagnetic materials that may be attracted to an MRI. For this reason, we recommend that you avoid using Fitbit devices in the vicinity of an MRI.

Choose your device for more information.

Follow these instructions to put on your Fitbit Alta and secure the wristband. To detach the bands from either side and replace them with a different band, see How do I change my wristband?

  1. Place your Alta around your wrist. The top of the tracker has a charging port and should be on the outside or top of your wrist.

  3. Squeeze the clasp and wristband between your thumb and forefinger until you feel it snap into place.

  5. If you’re having trouble fastening the wristband securely, try clasping it a few times before putting it on your wrist. The band may be stiff the first few times you try.

If you move your tracker to a different wrist, make sure you update this information on your Fitbit account. If your step count or distance measurement seems incorrect, consider changing the default stride length. For more information see How accurate are Fitbit trackers?

Clip Placement

Wear Inspire on or close to your body with the screen facing outward. Secure the clip tightly to a shirt pocket, bra, pants pocket, belt, or waistband. Try out a few different locations to see what's most comfortable and secure for you.

If you experience skin irritation when wearing Inspire on your bra or waistband, clip it to an external piece of clothing instead, such as your belt or pocket.

Fitbit Flex 2 is sold with elastomer wristbands in two sizes. Accessories sold separately are available in other materials. Only the original wristbands or classic accessory bands (both elastormer) should be used for high-intensity workouts, swimming, and sleep tracking. Note that loose fitting accessories may cause variations in your activity stats since they move more freely throughout the day.

Attaching an original or classic wristband

If the small band better fits your wrist, move the clasp from the large to small band as described in How do I change my wristband? To attach a wristband:

  1. Position the wristband so the colored LED light is closest to the outside of your wrist.

  5. If you’re having trouble fastening the wristband securely, try clasping it a few times before putting it on your wrist. It may be stiff the first few times you try.

For better accuracy, make sure Fitbit knows which wrist you wear the tracker on. If your step count or distance measurement seems incorrect, consider changing the default stride length. For more information see How accurate are Fitbit trackers?

Wearing a pendant (necklace)

If you have a pendant accessory for Flex 2, make sure it is properly secured:

  1. Insert your tracker into the necklace with the colored LED positioned toward the top of the pendant.
