Before you give your Fitbit device to another person or return it, erase or factory reset the device to remove apps, stored data, personal information, credit and debit cards (for Fitbit Pay-enabled devices), and saved settings. For devices not listed below, your data is cleared when the device is paired to a new account.

For instructions on how to remove a device from your account, see How do I remove a Fitbit device from my account?

For instructions on how to factory reset your Charge or Charge HR as a troubleshooting step, see How do I factory reset my Charge or Charge HR?

Choose your device for more information.

To factory reset your device:

  1. Connect Ace 2 to the charging cable. For Inspire and Inspire HR, skip to step 2.
  2. Open the Settings app > Clear User Data.
  3. When prompted, press the screen for 3 seconds and release. When your tracker vibrates and the clock screen appears, your data is erased.

Note: For Ace 2, if you don't see the option to Clear User Data, close the Settings app and reopen it while Ace 2 is connected to the charger. The option should appear.

Note that Aria Air doesn't store personal data.

To erase Aria:

  1. Remove the batteries.
  2. Wait 10 seconds, then reinsert them.

To erase Aria 2:

  1. Remove the batteries.
  2. Press the small button directly above the battery slots.
  3. While pressing the button, reinsert the batteries. Be sure to press the button for at least 10 seconds.
  4. Return the cover to the battery compartment and press down until it’s secure.

For Fitbit Versa Lite Edition, you can delete apps to remove personal information from your watch instead of performing a factory reset. For instructions, see How do I install and manage apps on my Fitbit watch?

To factory reset your device:

On your device, open the Settings app > About > Factory Reset or Clear User Data.
