If you have trouble connecting your watch to Wi-Fi, first make sure that your Wi-Fi network is working correctly and that your network type is compatible with your watch. Then move on to the troubleshooting steps if needed.

Verify your Wi-Fi Network

To verify your Wi-Fi network is working correctly, connect another device, such as your phone or computer, to your network. If the device connects successfully, confirm your network type is compatible with your Fitbit watch by reviewing the supported network types in How do I connect my Fitbit watch to Wi-Fi? For best results, use your home or work Wi-Fi network.

Troubleshooting

After you verify the network is compatible, plug your watch into the charger and make sure it’s in range of your Wi-Fi network. For a stronger Wi-Fi connection, move your watch closer to your router. If you still can’t connect to Wi-Fi, complete the steps below based on your issue.
Wi-Fi won’t work on your watch when the battery level is below approximately 25%.

Why can't I add a Wi-Fi network to my Fitbit watch?

If you have trouble adding a Wi-Fi network, complete the steps below. If you have a hidden network, skip to the next section.

Step 1

  1. Restart your watch by pressing and holding the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo.
  2. Go back to the Fitbit app and try again to add a Wi-Fi network.
  3. If you see other networks appear in the list of available networks, but not your preferred network, move your watch closer to your router.
If you still can't connect your watch to Wi-Fi, continue to step 2.

Step 2

Remove your watch from the list of Bluetooth devices on your phone (known as "unpairing").
  1. On your phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth > your device name > find an option to forget the device.
  2. Go back to the Fitbit app and try again to add a Wi-Fi network.
Note that you must set up notifications again after unpairing your watch from your phone. For instructions, see How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?

Why isn't my network name appearing in the list of available networks?

If you have a hidden Wi-Fi network, it may not appear in the list of available networks under Wi-Fi Settings in the Fitbit app. First, make sure the network is compatible with your watch by reviewing the list of networks in How do I connect my Fitbit watch to Wi-Fi? Then manually add the network in the Fitbit app. For instructions, choose your device:

    1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon (User-added image) > your watch tile.
    2. Tap or click Wi-Fi Settings.
    3. Under Networks, find the option to manually add a network and enter the network name and security type.
