Turn on the device lock and set a personal 4-digit PIN code to help keep your Fitbit device secure. This feature is available on watches and trackers that support Fitbit Pay.

Why should I use the device lock on my Fitbit watch?

To help keep your Fitbit device secure, turn on the device lock in the Fitbit app. You'll be prompted to enter a personal 4-digit PIN code to unlock your device. If you set up Fitbit Pay, the device lock is turned on automatically and you’re prompted to set a code.

How do I turn on the device lock?

If you set up Fitbit Pay, the device lock is turned on and you’re prompted to set a personal 4-digit PIN code when you add a payment card for the first time.

To turn on the device lock without setting up Fitbit Pay:
  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon (User-added image) > your device image. 
  2. Tap Device Lock.
  3. Find the option to set a 4-digit PIN code.

When do I enter the PIN code to unlock my Fitbit device?

You must enter your PIN code at least once a day. Your Fitbit device prompts you to enter your PIN code based on your device lock setting:
  • Enabled: Each time you put your device on your wrist.
  • Enabled for Fitbit Pay: First time you make a payment after your put your device back on your wrist. 
Note that your card issuer may require you to re-enter your PIN code to authorize a payment. 

To change the device lock setting:
  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon (User-added image) > your device image.
  2. Tap Device Lock.
  3. Tap to change your device lock setting.

How do I reset or change the PIN code on my Fitbit device?

Reset or change the PIN code for your device:
  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon (User-added image) > your device image.
  2. Tap Device Lock.
  3. Find the option to change your PIN code.

How do I unlock my Fitbit device with my phone?

If you enter an incorrect PIN code 10 times, you're prompted to unlock your Fitbit device in the Fitbit app.

To unlock your device with your phone:
  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon (User-added image) > your device image. 
  2. Tap Device Lock.
  3. Find the option to reset your PIN code. 
Note that after you reset your PIN code, you must add your cards to Fitbit Pay as if you were setting it up for the first time.
