The Fitbit app delivers a personalized experience to give you a deeper understanding of your stats and progress while providing insights to help you reach your goals. Customize the app to see the stats that matter most to you.

What are the tabs in the Fitbit app? 

The Fitbit app features 3 tabs: Today, Discover, and Community. You may notice a Premium tab if you’re not a Fitbit Premium subscriber. Subscribe to Fitbit Premium to access guided programs and advanced tools to help you reach your goals. For more information, see What should I know about Fitbit Premium?

Switch between the tabs to see a full picture of your stats, discover new experiences, and connect with the global Fitbit health and fitness community:

Today

See your daily stats at the top of the Today tab, including steps, distance, calories burned, and more. Below your daily stats, find your other stats, such as sleep, how many days you exercised this week, weight, and more.

Discover

Add stats to the Today tab, and find challenges, health and wellness programs, and premium programs like Fitbit Coach and Mindfulness.

Community

Access the Fitbit community where you can join groups, find your friends, interact with other community members, and more.

How do I update the Fitbit app?

Update the Fitbit app the same way you update other apps on your phone. Note that your device may automatically update your apps depending on your settings.
  • iPhones and iPads
    1. Open the App Store app.
    2. Tap your profile picture in the top right.
    3. Scroll down to see if an update is available for the Fitbit app (under Available updates or Upcoming automatic updates). 
    4. Tap Update
    If your apps update automatically, check Updated recently to see if the Fitbit app was updated recently.
     
  • Android phones
    1. Open the Play Store app.
    2. Tap the menu icon in the top left.
    3. Tap My apps & games. If the Fitbit app has an update, you’ll see it in the Updates list.
    4. Tap Update.
    If your apps update automatically, check the Recently updated or Up to date list to see if the Fitbit app was updated.
     
  • Windows 10 devices
    1. Open the Store app.
    2. Tap the menu icon in the top left.
    3. Tap Downloads and updates.
    4. If your apps update automatically, check the Recent activity list to see if the Fitbit app was updated.
    5. If the Fitbit app doesn't appear in the Recent activity list, tap Check for updates. If the Fitbit app has an update, you’ll see it in the Available Updates list.
    6. Tap the download icon.​​​

To see which version of the Fitbit app you have, tap the Today tab User-added image > your profile picture > Help. The app version is at the top.

How do I remove or rearrange stats on the Today tab in the Fitbit app?

To rearrange your stat tiles:

  1. Tap the Today tab User-added image > Edit
  2. Tap and hold the User-added image icon next to the tile you want to move, and drag it to a new position.
  3. Tap Save.

To hide stat tiles:

  1. Tap the Today tab User-added image > Edit
  2. Hide activity stats under Manage Activity Items. Tap the check mark next to the stat you want to hide from your view. 
  3. Hide other stats under Manage Today Items. Tap the red minus icon User-added image > Remove to hide the stat from your view. 
  4. Tap Save.

Note that you can choose to hide all your daily stats. Tap the Today tab > Edit > Hide all > Save.

How do I add stats to the Today tab in the Fitbit app?

  1. Tap the Discover tab User-added image > Health and Wellness Stats.
  2. Tap the stat you want to add, and tap Add to Today.

How do I log stats in the Fitbit app?

  1. Tap the Today tab, and tap the  User-added image  icon next to the stat you want to log.
  2. Add your information, and tap Save.

Where can I find my Fitbit account settings?

Tap the Today tab User-added image, and tap your profile picture. Your device is listed at the top. Tap your device image to open your device settings, or scroll down for your account settings.

How do I add or change my profile photo in the Fitbit app? 

Find your profile picture in the top left of the Today tab User-added image. If you already added a profile image, you’ll see your picture. If you don’t have a profile image, you’ll see an icon with an outline of a person User-added image
  1. Tap the Today tab User-added image, and tap your profile picture > your name.
  2. Tap the camera icon User-added image on your profile image, and take a new photo or choose an existing photo from your phone’s photo library.

What are the messages at the top of the Today tab in the Fitbit app?

You’ll see messages in the Fitbit app that give you personal insight into your health and wellness based on your Fitbit data. These messages may be about general wellness, activity, nutrition, mindfulness, sleep patterns, and more.

Tap the X in the top right to dismiss a message. Provide feedback on a message by tapping the thumbs up icon User-added image or the thumbs down icon User-added image.

How do I connect with friends in the Fitbit app? 

Interact with your friends by participating in the Fitbit community, sending direct messages, and competing in challenges.

How do I participate in the Fitbit community?

How do I see my messages and notifications in the Fitbit app?

To see your messages and notifications, tap the inbox icon User-added image in the top right > Notifications or Messages. For more information, see What should I know about the Fitbit Community?

How do I share my stats and accomplishments from the Fitbit app? 

Share stats and accomplishments including:

  • Badges and trophies
  • Daily stats 
  • Exercise
  • Logged foods
  • Hourly activity
  • Sleep logs
  • Progress toward a weight goal

To share a stat, accomplishment, badge, or trophy: 

  1. From the Today tab User-added image in the Fitbit app:
    • To share an accomplishment, tap the tile that has the accomplishment you want to share.
    • To share a badge or trophy, tap your profile picture > your name > Badges and Trophies
  2. Tap the achievement, log, badge, or trophy you want to share, then tap Share or the share icon:

  1. Customize your post, and tap Share (on Android phones, tap Next).
  2. Write your message, and tap Next.
  3. Choose a group in the Fitbit community where you want to share your post, and tap Post. To share the post outside of the Fitbit community, tap Share elsewhere.

How do I use the Fitbit app on my Android phone?

To make sure your Fitbit device syncs and receives notifications from your Android phone, make sure the Fitbit app can run in the background on your phone and allow the Fitbit app to access your location. You can also add Fitbit widgets to help you quickly log stats and track goal progress from your Android phone’s home screen.

Use the Fitbit app to log your food, activities, weight, and more, without owning a Fitbit device. Manually enter activities to get an estimated calorie burn based on your personal information, such as height, weight, age, and sex. For certain phones, use MobileTrack and MobileRun to track steps and activities with your phone.
