What if my map data is incorrect?

To ensure that your GPS is working correctly while using MobileRun:
The following instructions apply specifically to iOS devices. The instructions for Android and Windows Phone devices will be added shortly.

1. Enable cellular data on your mobile device:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap Cellular.
  • Ensure that Cellular Data is enabled. This ensures you can accurately track your run, walk, or hike while out of wi-fi range.

2. Ensure that your GPS will continue tracking when your phone is locked:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap General.
  • Tap Background App Refresh and ensure that it is enabled for the Fitbit app.

3. Ensure that you've enabled location services:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap Privacy.
  • Tap Location Services and make sure they're enabled for the Fitbit app.

How are MobileRun stats calculated?

When tracking runs, walks, and hikes, the MobileRun feature uses the sensors in your phone to calculate distance, steps, active minutes, and calories burned. As a result, you may see differences between the activity stats calculated by MobileRun and those counted by your tracker.

We are continually working to improve MobileRun and appreciate your feedback on this new feature.

How does MobileRun work with tracker data?

If you wear your tracker during your MobileRun, your tracker data should appear on your web and mobile dashboards as normal with your GPS map accompanying it. If you decide to leave your tracker at home when using MobileRun, your MobileRun data behaves like a manually logged activity.

Does MobileRun data count towards badges and challenges?

If you wear your tracker during your MobileRun, you should see those steps count towards badges and challenges. If you leave your tracker at home while using MobileRun, you won't see that data count towards your badge or challenge totals.
