You can use the Fitbit app for iOS to track sleep, edit sleep logs, set sleep goals, and view your historic sleep log. To use your tracker to start a sleep log, see How do I track my sleep? For more information about sleep tracking, see Sleep tracking FAQs.

My sleep start and end times are incorrect, how do I manually start and stop sleep logging?

Most Fitbit trackers automatically start and stop your sleep log. If you feel the sleep log is inaccurate, you can manually start and stop your sleep log in the Fitbit app for iOS. Complete the following steps:
  1. Tap the sleep tile on the Fitbit app dashboard. This is the tile that says "How did you sleep?" or, if you tracked sleep the night before, shows how many hours and minutes you slept.
  2. Tap the + icon in the top right corner.
  3. Tap Begin Sleep Now.
Your sleep is now being tracked. If you minimize the Fitbit app, your sleep will continue to be tracked. When you wake up, open the Fitbit app again, tap I'm Awake, then tap View Summary to see a summary of your sleep.

I forgot to put my tracker into sleep mode, can I manually create a sleep log?

If you have a One or Flex tracker and forgot to put your tracker into sleep mode, you can manually create a sleep log in the Fitbit app for iOS. Complete the following steps:
  1. Tap the sleep tile on the Fitbit app dashboard. This is the tile that says "How did you sleep?" or, if you tracked sleep the night before, shows how many hours and minutes you slept.
  2. Tap the + icon in the top right corner.
  3. Tap Add Sleep Log.
  4. Choose your start and end time.
  5. Tap Log. Your sleep log will now show for the times that you designated.

How do I edit or delete a sleep log?

Regardless of which method you chose to log your sleep, you can always edit the sleep log to better reflect your time asleep. To edit or delete a sleep log in the Fitbit app for iOS, complete the following steps:

  1. Tap the sleep tile on the Fitbit app dashboard. This is the tile that says "How did you sleep?" or, if you tracked sleep the night before, shows how many hours and minutes you slept.
  2. Tap the sleep log you want to edit.
  3. Tap the three dots in the top right corner.
  4. Tap Adjust Sleep Log.
  5. Edit the start and end times.
  6. Tap Save.
To delete a sleep log, swipe left on the log you want to erase, then tap Delete.

How do I set or change a sleep goal?

To set or change a sleep goal in the Fitbit app for iOS, complete the following steps:
  1. Tap Account.
  2. Under Goals, tap Sleep
  3. Tap Time Asleep and set your sleep goal. Your sleep goal will automatically save.

How do I view my sleep quality and stats?

Your sleep can be viewed on the Fitbit app dashboard or on the Sleep tab. The time asleep represented in the Fitbit app is calculated by subtracting your time awake or restless from the overall tracked time. For example, if you slept eight hours, but awakened two times for 15 minutes each, the time asleep will show 7 hr  30 min. You can further investigate your effective sleep quality by tapping the sleep log and viewing detailed information about your sleep. Your sleep quality is based on whether you were asleep, restless, or fully awake. Tap the expander arrow in the top right of your sleep pattern graph to view more detailed data for a specific period of time. On the 1d view, you can drag your finger across the bar, and see the precise times that you were asleep, awake, and restless. Tap the expander arrow in the top right to return to your sleep summary.

You can adjust your tracker's sleep sensitivity on fitbit.com from your web browser if you feel that it is recording your sleep incorrectly.
