How do I install and manage apps on my Fitbit device?

Your Fitbit device comes preloaded with a variety of apps including Alarms, Weather, and Exercise. On certain devices, install additional apps using the Fitbit Gallery.
Apps can be published either publicly or privately. Publicly shared apps appear in the Fitbit Gallery search results, and are subject to Fitbit review. Privately shared apps, which are typically used for developer testing, can only be found by clicking a direct link to the app. Only install apps from sources you know and trust, and be mindful of what data you share with third parties.

If you have trouble setting up an app, see How do I set up and troubleshoot apps on my Fitbit device?

Following a careful assessment of the impact of new regulatory requirements, we have made the decision to remove third-party apps and clocks from the Fitbit app gallery for users in the European Economic Area in June 2024. You can continue to download and install third-party apps until that date. Afterwards, you'll have access to a selection of Fitbit and Google apps. Users in other countries will not be impacted.

These changes will affect the following Fitbit smartwatches:

  • Fitbit Sense 2, Fitbit Sense
  • Fitbit Versa 4, Fitbit Versa 3, Fitbit Versa 2, Fitbit Versa Lite, Fitbit Versa
  • Fitbit Ionic (if you still have a Fitbit Ionic, click here for information on the voluntary recall)

You can download and install third-party apps until June 2024. After that date, you will continue to have access to a diverse gallery of apps and clocks developed by Fitbit and Google.

What types of apps are available through the Fitbit Gallery?
Find and install new apps for your device in the Fitbit Gallery, which you access from the Fitbit app. The Gallery offers apps to address a variety of health, fitness, timekeeping, and everyday needs. For example, the Weather app allows you to check your local weather on your wrist. Additional apps are added periodically to the Gallery, so check back often to find new apps. To learn more about developing apps for the Gallery, see dev.fitbit.com.
Why are some apps labeled as "paid" in the Fitbit Gallery?

Some apps and clock faces require a paid subscription service or a one-time activation fee (to a developer). If a developer requires an activation fee, you may see a "Paid" label above the app or clock face description:

For these apps and clock faces, the developer will process and provide instructions for payment. Many developers use the third party service KiezelPay to accept payment for their app or clock face. You'll see a message on your Fitbit device asking you to visit a website and enter a code. For more information, see KiezelPay’s FAQ. If you decide not to purchase a paid clock face and want to remove the message, change your clock face. For more information, see How do I change the clock face on my Fitbit device?
