How do I use Google Maps on my Fitbit device?

How do I set up Google Maps on my Fitbit device?
  1. From the Today tab  in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon   your device.
  2. Tap the Google Maps tile.
    • If you see a message that the Google Maps app isn’t installed, tap App Gallery and follow the on-screen instructions to add the Google Maps app to your Fitbit device, then return to the previous screen.
    • If you see a message that the Google Maps app isn’t installed on your phone, tap the app store link to download it.
  3. Tap Setup and follow the on-screen instructions to set up Google Maps on your Fitbit device.
    • Note that if you use the Fitbit app on an iPhone, you must tap Allow when prompted to give Google Maps access to use Bluetooth.
What is auto-start and how do I turn it on or off?

 When auto-start is turned on, the Google Maps app automatically opens on your Fitbit device when you start navigation on your phone. By default, auto-start is turned on for cycling and walking navigation and off for driving navigation. To adjust the auto-start setting:

On-device (Sense 2 and Versa 4 only)
  1. From the clock face, press the button to open a list of the apps installed on your watch.
  2. Swipe up until you see the Google Maps app . Tap the app to open it.
  3. Swipe up to find the Auto-start section.
    • Tap the switch to turn the feature on or off.
    • Tap CyclingDriving, or Walking to turn auto-start on or off for each type of navigation.
Fitbit app
  1. From the Today tab  in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon   your device.
  2. Tap the Google Maps tile.
    • Tap the switch next to Auto-start to turn the feature on oroff.
    • Tap CyclingDriving, or Walking to turn auto-start on or off for each type of navigation.
How do I start turn-by-turn directions on my Fitbit device?
  1. Open the Google Maps app on your phone, search for the location you want to navigate to, choose your mode of transportation, select a route, and tap Start to begin navigation. For more detailed instructions on how to use the Google Maps app on your phone, see support.google.com. Note that the Fitbit app must be running in the background.
  2. If auto-start is turned on for the mode of transportation you selected on your phone, the Google Maps app opens on your Fitbit device automatically. If auto-start isn’t turned on, open the Google Maps app on your Fitbit device.

  1. From the clock face, press the button to open a list of the apps installed on your watch.
  2. Swipe up until you see the Google Maps app . Tap the app to open it.
  3. Tap View to see your current trip.

  1. During navigation, you can use the app on your Fitbit device to pause or cancel navigation:
Sense 2 and Versa 4
  • Swipe up to see the next 2 upcoming navigation steps and your destination location.
  • Tap Preview to prompt the Google Maps app on your phone to display all upcoming steps.
  • Tap Pause navigation on watch to pause navigation on your watch, but continue navigation on your phone. Tap View to resume navigation on your watch.
  • Tap Exit to cancel navigation on your watch and your phone.
Charge 6
  • Swipe up and tap the pause button to pause navigation.
  • Tap the resume button to resume navigation or the finish button to end navigation.
  1. When you reach your destination using cycling or walking navigation, your Fitbit device shows a summary of your activity. Tap Done to close the Google Maps app.
Do I have to bring my phone with me to use Google Maps on my Fitbit device?
Yes, your phone must remain within Bluetooth range of your Fitbit device to use the Google Maps app.
How do I cancel navigation on my Fitbit device?

During navigation, swipe up in the Google Maps app on your Fitbit device to find the following options:

  • Tap Pause navigation on watch (Sense 2 and Versa 4) or the pause button (Charge 6) to pause navigation on your device, but continue navigation on your phone. Tap View (Sense 2 and Versa 4) or the resume button (Charge 6) to resume navigation on your device.
  • Tap Exit (Sense 2 and Versa 4) or the finish button (Charge 6) to cancel navigation on your device and your phone.
How do I uninstall Google Maps from my Fitbit device?

To disconnect Google Maps from your Fitbit device:

  1. From the Today tab  in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon   your device.
  2. Tap the Google Maps tile  Disconnect Google Maps.

To uninstall the Google Maps app from your Fitbit device:

  1. From the Today tab  in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon   your device.
  2. Tap the Gallery tile.
