Setting up your tracker with the Fitbit app for iOS

You can use the Fitbit app to set up an unpaired tracker with your new or existing Fitbit account.

Unlike standard Bluetooth devices, like headsets, your Fitbit tracker will set up directly through the Fitbit app, and not through your iOS device's Bluetooth pairing settings. Because of this, you will not see your tracker as a paired device on the Bluetooth screen of the Settings app. Follow the instructions below to set up your tracker if you're a new or existing user.

First Time Setup

Follow these instructions if you're new to Fitbit:

  1. Open the Fitbit app.
  2. Tap Join Fitbit.
  3. Choose your product.
  4. Tap the set up option.
  5. On the next few screens, enter your personal details. This information is used to calculate your basal metabolic rate (BMR), which determines your calorie count for activities.
  6. Enter your name, email address, and desired password and tap All Done!
  7. Follow the onscreen instructions to continue.

Replacement setup

Follow these instructions if you already have a Fitbit account and want to replace your existing tracker with a new one:

  1. Open the Fitbit app.
  2. Log in to the Fitbit app.
  3. Tap the Account tab.
  4. Tap Set up a New Fitbit Device.
  5. Choose your product and follow the onscreen instructions to continue.

Linking to your iOS device

If you've already set up your tracker using a computer, you must link it to your iOS device.
  1. Open the Fitbit app and log in. You'll see a pop-up screen with the message "Sync-on-the-go."
  2. Tap Yes to confirm that you want to turn syncing on. The app will search for your tracker. You'll see the message "Linking to Fitbit," followed by "Linking successful!"
  3. Tap Done. You can now view your stats.
